Turning 30 passed quickly leaving me feeling an array of mixed emotions. Beside feeling old, one of the best things that came out of it was evaluating my health and self care. I realized that it was time for me to be a healthier person. After living in a whirlwind and having babies back-to-back-to-back, I wanted to take back my body! ha So here I am commemorating my #30.
I decided to get started with an app/running program called Couch to 5k. It’s an 8 week program that helps you go from an inactive lifestyle to being able to complete running 3 miles. I began shortly after that to use the My Fitness Pal app to start tracking my calorie intake. This alone helped me learn better portion control when eating and how to make better eating choices.
Dixie became my running partner.
I began to start buy less processed foods and more fruits and veggies!
I registered my mom and myself to run the Disney Princess half marathon in Feb. 2014. Surely a trip to Disney World would motivate me to do this!! And why not? What fun!
As I began to build up my mileage, Dixie started getting tired by the 3rd mile. Luckily, by then, I was able to start running with my mom and Aunt Mona.
With an running routine and calorie counting in place, I started to see results. That is when I started to feel really motivated!
After I finished my C25K program, I started a Sub 60 10K training program (which I am still doing). I also joined a local gym and began working with a trainer.
Here we are at the Cove Lake 5K… (my 1st 5K in 12 years!)
My good friend runs, too, so it helps to have another running buddy!
Yay!
Healthy eating-
Aug. 1st- wanting to clock more miles than the 77 I ran in July! Whoa. I would have never thought I could do that!
And our most recent race, the Color Me Rad race in Knoxville— lots of fun!
3 months after #30, I finally met my weight loss goal of 20 pounds! I feel better than I have in a long time. I’m looking forward to what comes next!
