Family Pictures 2012

We had family pictures made during our family beach trip at Sea Brook Island (July 2012) by the amazing Sharon Clark of Smitten Photography.  I carefully planned our outfits weeks prior to the session and was pleased with the outcome.  As a photographer and mother of three quickly growing little ones, I value the tradition of family pictures.  I think it is important for us to be captured together routinely as our family changes.  This has not only been something for us to enjoy presently, but I know one day, my kids will treasure the images even more.  🙂

Here are some of my favorites from that session (in no particular order)-

Happy Birthday Kay Kay!

Our family misses Kay so bad that we had a birthday party in her honor- even while she is in TX!  We miss and love you so much!

And a few shots from her party-

(She is sooo photogenic, right?!?)

Kay giving Frank a hard time, as usual…

Kay, when did you get such hairy arms?

Labor Day weekend at “the beach”!

It was such a blessing to be able to get away with my side of the family at the beach for a few days over Labor Day weekend.  It has been nearly five years since we vacationed together!  (That is tooo long!)  It was nice to have the time together.  The kids loved it, especially.

Here’s a hermit crab Rea found.  She was all about finding sea creatures on this trip.  She found hermit crabs, lots of conch shells, and sand dollars.  We decided that we are “pro-sealife” (haha) so we put everything back except the empty conch shells.

We had daily bike rides.

These horses came right over to us.

Horses like suckers, apparently.  I’m sure this is probably not part of their diet.

One night, the boys were wanting a few minutes of peace & quiet so they invented a new quiet game for the kids.  It actually worked for a few minutes. haha

Dancing on the lawn-

We stayed at my in-laws’ condo at Sea Brook Island.  There is a beautiful marsh area behind the development.  We went for a walk out there, and I didn’t have my phone to capture how pretty it was.  My dad did have his phone, thankfully, so he got a couple shots.

The tandem got lots of action while we were in town!

You know how Max gets attached to random objects every day.  He carried this little shovel for a couple days.  Humorous, but slightly dangerous.

A group shot (minus me & Daniel).  We were waving hello to Aunt Kay in TX!

And Max collapsed in the sun and sand by the cart- (would have made more sense to have chose the shady side)

We met this guy and some other friends one evening on a bike ride.

Here’s Papaw helping the girls find shells.  Reagan would stand out there and dig around in the sand with her toes til she found them.  She did really well, actually!

There was a guy fishing down the shore a bit.  I think he had thrown these back and they drifted right to where the kids were.  Even though they were goners, they were pretty excited about them-

Me & my momma!

Me, Aunt Mona, & Mom

It was nice to see my mom actually sit down and relax if only for a few minutes!

The boy with the awesome beach hair-

Emmy the ballet swimmer-

Here’s a video of Emmy doing her thing.  I couldn’t resist.  She just barely comes up for air and this is how she was all three days at the pool!

Here’s Max laughing at Brycen in his car seat-

All of her shells from the trip minus the HUGE one she found…..  I hate that I left it out of this picture.

“The Beach”, part 3

Day 6

When Max woke up, we realized that he had been bitten on the eyelid by a mosquito and it was swelled nearly shut.  It took almost 2 days for it to go down.  Poor guy!  This same exact thing happened to me once on vacation, but I was older.  I remember wearing sunglasses to hide my eye.

Emmy was cute as a button in Rea’s Hello Kitty hat.  She has the greatest expressions!

And I finally decided to take my “good camera” out with us to get a few fun shots of the kids playing in the pool.  Max was quite irritated when I left him in the pool with daddy to take pictures so my time was limited to just a couple minutes.

Emmy was and has always been quite fearless.  She was the first of the kids this summer to go under water, jump in, and flip!  She might come up out of the water choking, but you better believe she’s gonna have a smile on her face! haha

Here’s a video of her flipping into the pool!  (Make sure to turn the music off on the right sidebar of the blog before playing.)

It was amazing how the goggles changed Reagan’s activities and attitude at the pool!  She was so proud of herself.  🙂

After we got in from the pool, I decided to get the girls bathed and take them out for pictures in the wildflowers.  There is a little field of wildflowers that I have photographed them at during the previous two years.  The flowers weren’t at their peak like they have been in the past since we vacationed later in the summer this year.  Anyhow, it has just become a tradition to do this, and I couldn’t pass on the chance!  Obviously, Max was counted out with his swollen eye.  The light was fading quick when we got there so we worked fast and that was enough time for me to be happy.

There is a sign at the field that says, “Please pick wildflowers.”  That is just our kind of wildflowers- the ones that can be picked!

Here are a few favorites-

Reagan has started trying to do serious looks during pictures, but she couldn’t stand it once I started talking about Peter Pan (her crush from Disneyworld!)…

And Day 7, our last day-

We went back to the pool to try to wear the kids out one last time before getting on the road. We, of course, made time on our way out of town to stop at the Marble Slab one last time.  Marble Slab seven days in a row = guilty pleasure!

We had a wonderful vacation and are blessed to have family so generous and willing to share their island paradise with us! XOXO
